The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.
Applications are now open and may shut on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must fulfill the subsequent criteria:
• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house having a combined gross household earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.
• People with disabilities qualify if their combined family revenue will not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not submit any evidence of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are finding out or intend to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
